Petition to Establish Apley Castle as a Separate Parish Council Ward
We, the undersigned residents and electors of Apley Castle, are calling for the separation of Apley Castle from Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council and for the establishment of a separate, independent parish council arrangement that properly represents the interests of our community.
We believe Apley Castle is a distinct and growing community with its own identity, local priorities and needs. Residents deserve effective local representation, with decisions affecting our neighbourhood being made by representatives who understand our community and are directly accountable to the people who live here.
Our concerns centre on ensuring that:
- Local representation: Apley Castle has its own dedicated and accountable local representation.
- Local decision-making: Decisions concerning Apley Castle reflect the priorities and wishes of its residents.
- Fair allocation of resources: Local precept funding and parish resources are allocated fairly, transparently and with proper consideration of Apley Castle's needs.
- Community identity: Apley Castle is recognised as a distinct community with its own interests and priorities.
- Accountability: Residents have a meaningful voice in how their local area is governed and how public money is spent.
By signing this petition, the undersigned formally support the submission of a Community Governance Petition under Section 80 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, requesting that Telford & Wrekin Council considers the establishment of Apley Castle as a separate civil parish, with its own independently elected Parish Council, and undertakes any statutory review required to determine and implement the proposed changes to local governance arrangements.
Our objective is simple: local decisions, local accountability and local representation for Apley Castle.
